Fisher-Harris shows why he's a premier prop

One of the premier props in the game, James Fisher-Harris is a player you want on your squad.

Couragous and determined are two words to describe the New Zealand international. He even played the first half of the season with a lingering injury; no wonder he claimed the John Farragher Award for Courage and Determination for a third time in his career.

He's a leader of the squad, and although he's softly spoken, when he speaks everyone listens.

But what makes him a true leader is by how he leads from the front with his actions every time he takes to the field.

Across 23 NRL games in 2022, Fisher-Harris averaged close to 150 run metres (57 post-contact) and more than 30 tackles a game, with a tackle efficiency of 95.1 percent.

He was outstanding throughout the finals series, and was a key piece in the Panthers claiming back-to-back premierships.

Fisher-Harris notched further representative honours in 2022. As well as representing his Māori heritage at the All Stars match, he also represented New Zealand at the mid-year Test and Rugby League World Cup. He was also given the opportunity to captain his country at the tournament.

With Panthers coach Ivan Cleary resting several representatives following the final match of the State of Origin series, a number of experienced players had to lead from the front against Wests Tigers in Round 18.

With the Royce Simmons Cup up for grabs and the Panthers behind on the scoreboard with just a few minutes remaining, James Fisher-Harris stepped up to score the match winner.

WHAT WAS SAID

Panthers forward Liam Martin declared his teammates, Fisher-Harris, as the best prop in the game.

He's incredible and he's just been such a huge key to our success. The work ethic that he brought to this club, like everyone, thrives off it and it lifts everyone up. He's just at the next level.
